Want to learn more about the Perfectly Wonderful and Horrible Things discussed in each episode? Then “click” on the “blue words” and knowledge shall be yours.

Episode One: American Teenage Hymen Defense Methods

The $300 manual to giving your daughter something to tell her therapist in a couple of years.

Spec-Ops Incest

The Madonna-Industrial Complex

Man, teens huh?

Purity Ball pictures I wish I could have gotten permission to use.

Episode Two: Vespa-Heads

Faux Reel

Something pretty sweet, also by Faux Reel

Torontoist saying what most folk were already thinking (and writing and also saying)

Someone who did something a little more interesting then writing “COPORATE SLUT” or whatever.

Episode Three: Getting Back to Fundie Mentals

I like how typing just “Magic Mormon Underpants” into your browser brings you straight to this article.

It’s an incredibly cheap, tasteless and lazy thing to refer to members of cults or religions as “retards”. Unless, of course, it’s been proven by science.

Hey guys slow down, it’s not a FumaRASE. Oh ho ho…can you believe I write these myself? (Yes you can)

I’m probably just being an ass here, but I still find it noteworthy that Glamour magazine’s look at these characters has a photo of an FCLDS member, with capital knockers, who is showing a hint of cleavage in what I’m pretty sure is not a regulation FCLDS outfit.

Episode Four: General Butt Naked

I kinda wish I’d been exaggerating those numbers, but…

VICE covers the fashion side of things in their usual manner

Gen. Peanut Butter had some pretty good slogans when he ran in the 2005 Liberia elections and so did George Weah.

General Dragon Master: THE MUSICAL.

Thankfully, things did start to get better for Liberia.

Episode Five: Webcomics

First, here are all the webcomics shown in the episode itself (In the order they appeared): CAD, DPAD & Little Gamers (Gamers on Couches), Menage a 3 & PVP (Tits and Blandness), Achewood (“Very well written”), A Lesson is Learned But the Damage is Irreversible (“Beautifully rendered”), Kate Beaton Comics (“quite funny”), A Softer World (“…even poignant”), Meridith Gran’s Octopus Pie and finally Penny Arcade, Diesel Sweeties and Dinosaur Comics.

As comes up in my chat with Ryan North, recommendations are a great way to find out about webcomics. So, in addition to those comics I complimented in the episode, I’m going to recommend the following :

Dr. McNinja is great for over those who think surfing a robot dracula through space is a pretty good thing.

Scarygoround’s wonderful art and deft use of language make it a constant delight. Also it’s British IF YOU SWING THAT WAY.

Overcompensating is hard to sum up but easy to enjoy. If you want to read an episodic web diary that takes liberties with the author’s life and features a dead, alcoholic cat then Overcompensating could be for you!

Pictures for Sad Children mines the task eternal by trying to portray every way in which something horrible is often also hilarious.

Anders Loves Maria gives you that rare gem, a relationship comic which succeeds in being both funny and engaging. It’s also Swedish (written in English, mostly) if you swing that way.

Questionable Content has evolved into something of a relationship comic, but also touches upon music, goofy little robot/appliances and does some interesting things in the realm of psychiatry.

There are always more webcomics to mention, but all these should get you off to a good start!

Episode Six: Anecdotes

If you want to hear a series of stores from a man whose life seems to be nothing but one great yarn after another, then hunt down Martin Scorcese’s quite possibly least known film American Boy. In it he perfectly recreates that intimate feeling of sitting around the couches in your friend’s living room after a long night of drinking, when you gather round that one fella – in this case an old friend of Scorcese by the name of Steven Prince – and he tells you stories you’ll be passing on for years.

Meanwhile, here’s that part of Reservoir Dogs I reference at the start of the episode.

Episode Seven: Not So Great Lakes

Want to visit Lake Karachay to play at being a spooooky ghost? Well here it is on Google Maps.

Learn more about the most contaminated spot on the planet.

Lake Nyos has kind of been “fixed” since that incident I mentioned, but I didn’t think it’d be too funny to mention in the episode?

My remark about the fish aside, the local wildlife have actually adapated to the acidic waters of Karymsky (and it’s siblings) rather well.

Episode Eight: Manchildren

A few of those definitions of “Manchild” over at Urbandictionary.com

An English take on the concept, as shown in a television series.

An interesting dissection of the topic by Mr. Wiggles

Want to dress up as “The Media” we showed in this episode? Here’s how.

Episode Nine: Unethical Psychology Experiments

A detailed look at The Standford Prison Experiment

Apparently the Standford Prison Experiment might become a movie?

The Milgram Experiment

Experiments that top psychology researchers would love to do if people weren’t familier with “ethics”

Thirteen of the most important psychology experiments that have never been done

An article on the most recent (as of this episode’s “airing”) PFL night

Olivia-Neutron Bomb’s Profile

Episode 12: The Collyer Brothers

There’s still plenty of interesting things to learn about the Collyer Brothers, the episode just would have been way too long if I’d included them all!

Disposophobia

This is how most of them die…

That Edmund Trebus guy I mentioned

A non-famous hoarder that could very well end up that way (Lots of large pictures)

Episode 13: First World Problems

A decent little book on the subject by David Rakoff

“Cocaine” – A 1929 song by a man named Dick Justice…is it any wonder I used this in the episode?

Episode 14: Goblins (An Economic Solution)

Joey Comeau wrote a pretty good letter to the RAND corporation once.

Goblin Shark! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

OH GOD MAN I AIN’T READY FOR A GOBLIN SHARK MOVIE, I AIN’T READY FOR THIS!

The Green Goblin looks like this now, apparently?

Episode 15: Nostalgia

How could I forget Protonostalgia?

Okay okay, I can be as big a sucker for nostalgic crap as anyone else

Episode 16:  Beasts of Battle – Exploding Animals

Further detail about the Bat Bomb, Bat Bomb II and Bats general wartime adventures

Plenty of Piegeon Experiment videos by B.F. Skinner – he loves’em!

I can’t believe I missed Exploding Rats!

Episode 17: Mass Hysteria – The Original Flash Mob

A lot more people think their fans can kill them then you might think

In case anyone is feeling argumentative, I assure you I only paraphrased what the Pope said about condoms

This one is dubious, but interesting

Episode 18: Giving a Shit

STARTGIVINGASHIT.ORG is a pretty classic, messy, ranting website if there ever was one

Episode 19: Free Family Law Advice (For Men)

If this sort of thing is up your alley then you may enjoy Found magazine

Episode 20:  Beasts of Battle – Animal War Heroes

I didn’t have room for this carrier pigeon, but he has a great name and spent his entire retirement fuckin‘. How many others can claim the same?

Episode 24: Disconcerting Parasites

Some more details on Toxic Plasma Ghandi and the effect it has on human beings

The illustrations were done by Keir Broadfoot of SMILEWHORES – which continues to be a funny webcomic!

Episode 25: Burlesque

Coco Framboise!

Julie Atlas Muz – Coco’s other favorite female performer.

Roxi Dilite!

Skin Tight Outta Sight! (Honey B.Hind, Tanya Cheex & Sauci Calla Horra’s troupe)

The Saucy Tarts!

Revival – the venue for where we recorded most of this episode.

Episode 28: Subliminal Messages

In case you don’t remember or weren’t aware of that Disney “scandal”…

Episode 29: Aum er uh…

Aleph’s Website – which does not include the AUM ANIME THEY MADE ABOUT THEIR LEADER! (Oh hey another cartoon!)

Someone who has taken a much deeper look into the group than I have

Behold – Nikola Tesla’s Earthquake Machine!

A bit of a loosey-goosey article on science fiction and terrorism, which mentions Aum

Episode 30: Experiments in the Revival of Organisms

Here’s the original twenty minute film of the same name

Here’s a curious animation project someone did that was based on the film

A lovely Italian fellow who tried to bring human bodies back to life with, amongst other things, electricity

Vornezh has had other perfectly wonderful and horrible things happen around town…

Episode 31: One Man Building Crews

The 1957 documentary on Simon Rodia that I found list a little too late.

Not a one man building crew, but boy did this guy have some vision!

The technical term for what these guys create is “Visionary Environments”

Episode 32: Small Towns

A small town short story with some wholesome morality you can soak in

John Cooper Mellancamp has some things to say about small towns

Don’t forget, you can only find Real Americans in small towns, all the other Americans are secretly escapees from Madame Tusaud’s Wax Museum

A reasonable argument against the Time Cube theory.

If anybody wants to buy me THIS timecube, I would be ever so grateful!
